Here at The IT Training Surgery, we know that making time for learning new skills to improve your performance can be a challenge. We have developed a series of Microsoft Word half-day courses so that your teams can learn what they need in half-day bursts.
Courses can be run online using video communication software e.g. Zoom or at your premises on your computers.

Styles and Templates
By the end of the course, you will able to create a template for those documents you regularly create, include, and amend styles so that the formatting takes care of itself.
In particular, you will be able to:
- Create, modify and use Heading Styles
- Set up a standard document template to include standard text and Heading Styles
- Use keyboard shortcuts to speed things up
- Use and create Building Blocks for standard blocks of text
- Create a template to include all standard items, including Styles and a Table of Contents.

Tables and Mail Merge
By the end of the course, you will able to send a letter to many recipients.
In particular, you will be able to:
- Use keyboard shortcuts to speed up common tasks
- AutoCorrect those regular spelling mistakes
- Use AutoText (Quick Parts) to add blocks of frequently typed text
- Create and modify tables
- Applying borders and shading to tables
- Use Table Styles
- Understand the Mail Merge process
- Create the data source (the list you will write to)
- Create the data document (the document you are sending)
- Complete the merge

Introduction to Microsoft Word
By the end of the course, you will able to produce a basic letter and report.
In particular, you will be able to:
- Familiarisation with the layout of Word, use the Ribbon and tailor the Quick Access Toolbar
- Create a New document
- Enter and edit text
- Save a document to a folder, OneDrive for Business or a site
- Open existing documents
- Print Preview/Printing
- Move around within a document
- Insert additional text
- Select text (mouse, keyboard)
- Format text – attributes bold, italics, underlining, fonts and size
- Apply text alignment
- Use the Undo/Redo buttons
- Apply page layout option, margins, and orientation
- Insert headers and footers
- Create Bullets and Numbering
