Convert Word and PowerPoint files to PDF

How to convert Word and PowerPoint files to PDF

I was asked by my good friend and Queen of Blogging Sarah Arrow if I had a video tutorial of how to save a word document of PowerPoint presentation to pdf. I didn’t. So I recorded them and they are here for you.

Before I link to the videos let’s think why you might want to save your Word document or PowerPoint presentation as a pdf and what is a pdf when it’s at home anyway?

What is a PDF?

PDF stands for Portable Document Format – simply put it is a format that is readable on all systems and the content cannot be tampered with (unless you have specialist PDF creator software)

There are lots of free PDF creation software and a fair few that you can pay for. The free ones will usually allow you to read a pdf but not necessarily to save a document as a pdf.

The paid for packages will allow you to create a pdf from any document and to combine documents together to create a document made up of several.

The paid for packages will also allow you to export a pdf to one of the Office packages too.

Do I really need to buy a PDF creation package?

The short answer is no! If you are using Microsoft Office on Windows or Mac, you can save your documents as pdf files without third party software. Simple!

When saving a Microsoft Word document from Word 2007, 2010,2013 and 2016 you will find the option to change the file type to PDF under the Save As dialogue.

Watch the two videos to see it in action.

Do let me know if you find this useful – I love to hear from my readers.
