Quick steps in Outlook

Quick steps allow you to make repetitive tasks really simple and easy, things like filing email or sending an email to a group. Most things that you find yourself doing on a regular basis can become a Quick Step.

Quicktesps live on the Ribbon

1-Quicksteps Gallery

 

 

 

The Quick Steps Gallery – my pictures are from Outlook 2013, however the same rules apply in Outlook 2010

To create a new Quickstep for filing

2-Create new

 

 

Click Create New

Name the new Quick Step

3- Name

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Select the action to perform

4- Action

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Choose one of the actions

Select action to perform

5- Select Action

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I chose Move to Folder and selected the folder called Chocolate from the list

Add any other actions

6- Add more actions

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can add further actions to the Quick Step

(1), select a Keyboard Shortcut (2) and add some text to display when your mouse hovers over the Quick Step (3) – to remind you what it does.

Click Finish

7- Finish

 

 

Your new QuickStep is ready to use.

To use the Quick Step

Simply select the emails you wish to file

Click on the Quick Step in the Gallery

Hey Presto! They moved!!
