Microsoft Excel Level 3 – Manipulate and Lookup data
Who should attend?
This course is for everyone who uses Excel and needs to tidy up data and lookup data from one worksheet to another.
Training Requirements
Participants must be using Excel and able to create simple formulae and use absolute cell references, e.g., $C$4.
Aim
By the end of the session, you will be able to use Excel’s built-in text functions, Flash fill, and Vlookup function.
What you will learn
- Split text and combine cells using Flash fill
- Create a VLOOKUP() function to cross-reference data from another worksheet
- Use a variety of text functions to “tidy up” data, e.g. remove spaces before some text
- The options that Paste Special offers
- To remove duplicates from a data range
Microsoft Excel Level 3 – Visually representing data
Who should attend?
Any Excel user who wishes to create, amend, and format charts.
Training Requirements
Participants must be using Excel and able to select cells and use shortcut menus.
Aim
By the end of the session, you will be able to create a variety of charts, e.g., column, pie, and combination charts, format chart objects and have a greater understanding of charting options.
What you will learn
- A greater understanding of Excel charting terms, e.g., series, objects and legend
- Methods for creating, sizing, moving and deleting basic charts
- Modifying chart objects, e.g., adding titles to axes, amending axis scaling, legend location and formatting of chart objects
- How to create standard template layouts and combination charts
- Trendline and sparkline creation
Microsoft Excel Level 3 – Shortcuts, more conditional formatting, and auditing
Who should attend?
Any Excel user who wishes to use shortcuts to speed up daily tasks, use formulas with conditional formatting and track formulas.
Training Requirements
Participants must be using Excel and be comfortable with the basic options of conditional formatting.
Aim
By the end of the session, you will be able to use formulas with conditional formatting, speed up daily tasks with shortcut keys, e.g., select special commands and trace formulas and errors within a workbook.
What you will learn
- Formula based rules in conditional formatting, e.g., a set condition highlights a row
- To use a combination of data validation and conditional formatting, e.g. use a “pick list” of choices to highlight records
- Popular shortcuts to speed up daily tasks
- Add shortcuts to the Quick Access Toolbar and access them with a shortcut key
- Use Select Special to select the current region, visible cells only and locate where conditional formatting is on a worksheet
- Track and correct formulas using precedent and dependent arrows and error tracing
