Microsoft Excel Level 1 – Calculations
Who should attend?
Anyone with some basic experience but is unfamiliar with using the software to perform calculations.
Training Requirements
Participants must be confident in using a mouse and saving, opening and closing files
Aim
By the end of the session, you will be confident in using the essential features of Excel to create and alter simple spreadsheets, using formulae.
What you will learn
- Navigate around a worksheet
- Insert and delete rows or columns in your spreadsheet
- Autofill to quickly create patterns of data
- How to use Excel to add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers
- Keeping a cell reference constant while copying formulae in a worksheet, e.g. using absolute cell references ($A$2)
Microsoft Excel Level 1 – Working with data
Who should attend?
Anyone with some basic experience but is unfamiliar with using a list or a table.
Training Requirements
Participants must be confident in using a mouse and saving, opening and closing files
Aim
By the end of the session, you will be confident in using the essential features of Excel to create, sort, filter, and print data areas.
What you will learn
- Format a list as a table
- Sort data into order and filter data to ask questions
- To add rows of data or extra columns in a table
- Calculate columns and table total rows
- Freeze rows and columns to ease navigation
- Printing areas and use Page setup to customise the output
Microsoft Excel Level 1 – Charting and conditional formatting
Who should attend?
Anyone with some basic experience but is unfamiliar with using charts or conditional formatting to visually represent data, e.g., creating a traffic light system (Red, Amber, and Green).
Training Requirements
Participants must be confident in using a mouse and saving, opening and closing files
Aim
By the end of the session, you will be confident in using the essential features of Excel to make data stand out using conditional formatting or visually show data using charts
What you will learn
- Conditional formatting choices using data bars, color scales and icon sets
- Amend, delete and add conditional formatting rules
- Use the highlight cells rule option and top/bottom rules
- Create and amend basic charts
