Inserting a built-in header or footer in Microsoft Word 2010

Quick Tip for Microsoft Word 2010

Word 2010 has some pre-designed headers and footers to save you time when setting up your document.

To use a built-in header

  1. Go to the Insert tab on the ribbon
  2. Go to the Headers and Footers group
  3. Click on Headers (1)
  4. Select the Header you would like to use (2)
  5. Fill in the fields that appear (3)

To insert a built-in footer

  1. Go to the Insert tab on the ribbon
  2. Go to the Headers and Footers group
  3. Click on Footers (1)
  4. Select the footer you would like to use (2)
  5. Fill in the fields that appear (3)

To continue editing your document

WordHead5

Either

1. Click on the Close Header and Footer button on the ribbon (1)

Or

2. Double click anywhere in the main content of your document
